I help you chart a course to be the person you always hoped you could be,
and design the imprint you leave on the world.

About Susan
I’m Susan Deslaurier and I help mid-life men and women become the architect of their legacy.
I’ve been through distinct shifts in my personal and professional life, including a leap from my home in the California suburbs to my current simple life on the African plains, diving into a wide range of professional roles from counseling incarcerated minors to corporate leaders, starting and folding businesses, counseling Maasai elders and Indian land developers, and raising two amazing daughters. Along the way I gained deep wisdom about recognizing gaps in contentment, figuring out what needs to change, and finding the courage to make it happen.
My major life shifts seem to come every 10 years or so….
-
I began as counselor for incarcerated minors, battered women and rape survivors, learning that life is not always predictable or kind, and requires tremendous courage to hold on to your true self and spirit.
-
Then I shifted to become a corporate communications specialist, leadership consultant and executive coach, seeing that even the most outwardly successful people have flaws and yearnings that impede their path to being the person they wish to be.
-
My current incarnation blends my experience and passions to create my international safari company and support a Maasai cultural camp and community projects with my Maasai husband in Kenya, proving the power of saying “yes” to unexpected and unbelievable choices to let my best life come true.
Every pivot and change was a mix of magical opportunities, faith in saying yes to all that felt right, and courage to be true to myself. I love sharing my experiences in shifting cultures and continents, bridging seasons of life and learning big lessons to create a life of purposeful living and enduring legacy.
Are you ready to be the architect of your future?

Susan's Talks
My in-person and virtual talks and workshops offer insights and inspirations gleaned from my journey across personal and professional loss and rebirth, amid changing landscapes from suburban America, Cambodian countryside, cultures of India and settling into the Maasai community in Kenya, as well as throughout social service organizations, corporate leadership development, and international philanthropy environments.
How can we shape our imprint on the people we care about and the world at large by living in a way that shines with the attributes that we hope will live on when our time on Earth is through, leaving a legacy of our own design?
Inspiring messages for anyone who is in transition, pondering their past, present, future, and reflecting on their place in the world, their impact on it, and wanting to be a better person, parent, leader.

What Is Your Imprint?

This session combines wisdom and practical approaches for you to embark on the journey toward Living Your Legacy on Purpose, with a deeper dive into shaping the imprint we wish to leave on the people we care about and the world at large. Through guided reflection, writing, and small group discussions we will chart the course based on “How do you want to feel?", taking the pressure off having to define the exact, perfect life that you dream of.
Through engaging facilitation, interactive experiences, and a customized workbook, explore 3 Elements of the Journey:

1. Recognize the Gap: Who am I? What do I value? Do I deserve my best self?

2. Determine “If not this, then what?”: Document ideas; Create space; Learn as you go
3. Make it Happen: Commit to Action; Choose the next step; Discipline to stay the course

Aligning Your Personal and
Professional Impact

Determining your professional impact, or legacy is really about living your personal values…at home and at work. Employers are realizing more than ever that we work more effectively when we're invested in what we do and working toward something we believe in. Feeling good about our work generates inner motivation that fuels our drive to perform well and be energized leaders. It starts with clarifying the imprint we wish to leave on the people we care about and the world at large by living in a way that shines with the attributes that we most hope will live on as our legacy.
